Nerve Damage is a piece written for solo Clarinet that is meant to replicate the sharp pain that shoots down a leg when an inebriated disk pinches a nerve in the back. It is replicated through quick and sudden chromatic runs up both the highest and lowest registers of the Clarinet as well as Loud Forte Trills meant to surprise the audience members.
